The European Union (EU) has agreed that the UK meets the requirements to be classed as a Group A Third Country when we leave the EU. DEFRA has confirmed that the new requirements for transporting horses to the EU,
Horses will need to have blood samples taken at least one week before export and these samples must be tested at the Ministry Laboratory, AHPA Weybridge, Addlestone.The horse will have to meet specific isolation and residency requirements, including veterinary supervision for at least 90 days. The blood samples and supervision of the yard can be carried out by your veterinary surgeon, but all paperwork, including all health certificates, must be completed by a fully qualified Official Veterinarian (OV).
